Red Pooka (Etrian Odyssey IV)[]
Red Pooka is a rare FOE that appears as a yellow icon and can be found occasionally on the land maps. It will follow a set route until reaching the map's edge and then disappear, prior knowledge of its route will help you intercept it. Players can easily distract it with just about any (non-poisonous) food, which will make catching easy. Additionally, they can be chased down easily enough with the Twin Propeller Skyship part.
While it doesn't drop any items in battle, the player is guaranteed to obtain a Power Book after a successful battle.
As with all Pookas, they can be engaged into battle by flying into them without looking at them.

Red Pooka (Etrian Mystery Dungeon)[]
Red Pooka is a DLC quest monster can be encountered after accepting the quest "Know the Red Pookas?" in all dungeons. Once the quest is completed, that is to say when 3 Red Pooka have been defeated, no Red Pooka appear until the quest is accepted again.
Like the Pooka, it only takes one point of damage for all attacks. However, since it doesn't have much HP it can be defeated faster with fixed damage, like Blowback Sigil or Poison. It is also immune to Binds.
In battle it acts every 2 turns, and it can skip its turn because of Idle Float.
This monster tries to avoid combat, so you should try to corner it in a room or attack it from a distance. As it flies, this can make it impossible to fight in dungeons without walls, like Thunderous Cave or Torrential Ravine. Furthermore, its Help Me! skill makes the end of the fight complicated because it can teleport elsewhere as soon as it meets one of party member. Unlike the Pooka, it can even leave the area permanently, so attacking it from a distance can be useful to prevent it from using its "Run Away" skill.
This monster is a Normal type monster.
Skills[]
- Flight Instinct (Uses None): "Runs away upon sighting an enemy because of its timid nature." Passive skill. This skill modifies the AI of the monster. This will make the Red Pooka try to run away from the player instead of approaching to fight. However, this only works in a room, so it is possible to fight it in a corridor without it running away (except with Help Me! or Run Away).
- Daydreaming (Uses None): "As a careless being, it cannot move too quickly." Passive Skill. Decreases the speed of the monster, allowing it to act only every other turn.
- Keep Up! (Uses Head): "Makes all enemies in the room move slower for 10 turns." Used only after it has lost 5 HP.
- Idle Float (Uses Legs): "Floats in place. It's unclear what this unit is thinking." The monster misses its turn. It is then written "Red Pooka is floating."
- Help Me! (Uses Legs): "Summons monsters due to feeling threatened, and runs away to a different room." Summons between 1 and 4 monsters and teleports itself elsewhere in the floor. Used only when it has lost 13 HP and when a party member is on an adjacent tile.
- Run Away! (Uses Legs): "Hurriedly runs away from the zone because it feels threatened." The Red Pooka disappears permanently from the zone. Used only after using Help Me! twice and when a party member is on an adjacent tile.
