The Etrian Odyssey Origins Collection is a collection of HD remasters of Etrian Odyssey, Etrian Odyssey II: Heroes of Lagaard, and Etrian Odyssey III: The Drowned City for the Nintendo Switch and PC, as the franchise's first foray to a single screen.

Features include the vastly improved mapping systems of the 3DS entries being ported to the first three games, and the skill tree display now shows everything in a flow chart. You can now preview upcoming levels of a skill you want to invest in, and you can spend multiple skill points in one go, especially if investing in a skill and all its prerequisites. Several old bugged skills have also been fixed, though the remasters will retain some of the oddities in the original that can be used for the player's benefit.

New Features[]

HDMapping
  • Revised mapping tools, including a vastly increased map icon limit, autowalk functions, chest icons that indicate if the chest is opened, or shortcut icons that light up when unlocked.
  • Map screen is now situated to the side of the screen and can be edited by keyboard/mouse/controller/touch screen. A zoomed out display takes the corner of the screen in battle.
  • Difficulty levels: Picnic, Basic, Expert. This can be changed any time you're in town.
    • Expert is equivalent to the original difficulty of the DS versions.
    • Picnic greatly skews the numbers in the player's favor; you also have a 50% increased EXP, including quest EXP. Ariadne Threads are also not consumed from your inventory on use.
  • Up to 9 save slots.
  • You can now quicksave within the labyrinth. There is only one quicksave slot, and the quicksave is lost when you load a regular save file.
  • New Game Plus function added to the first two games.
  • The ability to swap a single character between rows mid-battle has been added to the first two games.
  • Updated skill tree display. You can now invest multiple unspent skill points at once, and preview changes in future skill levels before deciding to invest.
  • Battle speed and travel speed can now be adjusted.
  • Monster Codex can be reviewed mid-battle, and now displays vulnerabilities to ailments and binds.
  • Monster drops required for quests are now marked to remind you to avoid selling or discarding them.
  • Some enemy and character names have been changed to reflect that of their appearances in later entries of the series (ex: Iwaopeln is now Iwaoropenelep, Artelind is now Artelinde)
  • A fifth portrait has been added for each class in these games. Character portraits are no longer class-restricted; you can, for instance, use a Protector's portrait for your Landsknecht. You can also freely change your character's appearance at the explorer's guild.
    • DLC for each game adds two separate portraits based on characters from other ATLUS games, such as Joker from Persona 5, the Demi-Fiend from Shin Megami Tensei III: Nocturne, and the Nahobino from Shin Megami Tensei V.
  • This is the first time to feature any languages other than Japanese and English since Etrian Odyssey European version in 2008. Besides that, there were Korean versions of Untold and 2 Untold in 2014 and 2015, respectively.

  • The inn now allows for item storage, at a cost of 100en per item.
  • Key items no longer count towards the inventory limit.
  • Nighttime lighting of the 2nd and further Stratum has been implemented.
  • Bind infliction improved
  • Leg binds prevent escape.
  • Blind accuracy penalty improved.
  • You can now obtain more than one copy of "Hex Mantle" per playthrough.
  • Instead of the standard stratum boss theme, "The Battlefield that Never Sleeps" plays during the fight with Primevil.
  • Skill changes
    • Provoke and Cloak have improved aggro modifiers
    • Boost Up has an effect at Level 10
    • Patch Up healing increased
    • H. Touch condensed to 5 levels, and healing strength greatly increased.
    • Antifire, Anticold, and Antivolt at levels 6 and higher (elemental absorption) now also block any secondary effects of the attacks they're absorbing.
  • B28F typo is corrected from "abbatoir" to "abattoir". (It was corrected in DS European version, but not done in Untold)

Etrian Odyssey II[]

  • Flausgul's name was corrected to Hrothgar.
  • Kurogane's name was changed to Wulfgar.
  • Bind infliction improved.
  • Key items allocated to a dedicated inventory tab.
  • Defeating Artelinde and Wilhelm will automatically log the Curse Mail and Zamiel Gun into the Gear Registry. Likewise, defeating the Overlord automatically logs the Czar Cloth.
  • Door encounters on 30F now play "Shiver" instead of "Scatter About".
  • Bug fixes
    • (English) A next month to Taurus has been corrected to Tiger. The subsequent months were also correctly ordered.
    • An error where the damage cap would overflow when exceeding 65535 was fixed.
    • Stat bonuses from a level 30-39 retiree and a 40-49 retiree have been corrected.
    • The 20F boss not appearing has been fixed.
    • Screen glitch occurs when returning after playing a large amount of BGM Play in options has been fixed.
  • Skill changes
    • Unbound condensed to 3 levels, each one healing one more bind than the previous.
    • Unbind condensed to 5 levels. Levels 1 to 3 increase number of binds removed. Levels 4 and 5 decrease cost.
    • 1st Turn and Slowstep condensed to 1 level with guaranteed success on use.
    • Foesense condensed to 5 levels.
    • Danger's encounter bonus greatly increased.
    • Crusade's defense bonus decreased.

Etrian Odyssey III[]

  • Prince/ss renamed to Sovereign
  • A new third battle theme, Battlefield - Perish Like the Dew, has been added and plays during normal battles within the sixth stratum.
  • New Game Plus changes
    • You can now customize what you carry over in a New Game Plus.
    • Quests that you have already completed can be done again on a New Game Plus. Sea Quest completion (and associated trophy equipment), however, is preserved.
    • All chests are refilled, including the ones containing Coupons. The same applies for key items like Hammers, though duplicate copies are not tracked.
  • Olympia's Cruelty skill does not deny you her item drop or EXP.
  • Equipment crafted from final boss drops can be freely re-purchased once unlocked.
  • Skill changes
    • (English) Sword and Katana Mastery skills description corrected.
    • Ninja and Shogun skills given translations to match their Nexus renames.
    • Charge and Etheric Charge can linger until the character performs an attack that would be augmented by it, rather expiring after the next turn. Both skills can now affect Snipe and Sharpshooter, and the first chase from Warrior Might. They cannot stack — the latest charge skill will overwrite the other.
    • Action speed bugs regarding Knighthood, Fore Honor, and Rear Dignity have been fixed — enemies no longer gain the turn speed boost if you cast on your rightmost front slot onwards.
    • Execution (formerly Kaishaku) now also accounts for the equipped primary weapon's damage type and elemental forges/imbues for conditional drop flags, e.g. triggering an Execution while wielding a fire-forged katana will not count towards "kill without physical" or "kill without elemental" conditions.
  • (New Bug in any language other than Japanese) Uroboros and Serpent were swapped, the month after Lapin.
  • Stun Hammer (paralyze) is corrected to Paralyze Hammer. (unchecked)
