Dream Eaters are FOEs, that can be encountered on the overworld map of the Scarlet Pillars.

They start off relatively strong when first met, being able to put your entire party to sleep and then picking it apart one by one. However, after some leveling, they become a rather convenient way to farm some EXP. Rare (shiny) Dream Eaters are an incredible source of EXP for characters in their early-mid 20's. Feeding a normal Dream Eater a Golden Stinkhorn will force it to become Rare, as well as provide an opportunity for you get a Preemptive Strike. In addition, eating a Golden Stinkhorn will grant you an EXP boost, and using the Holy Gift Burst Skill will further increase this experience for a total of 50,588 EXP, enough to get the party to level up at least once. Eating a fire crystal will further increase your EXP gain. Furthermore, unlike other FOEs, Dream Eaters will respawn every day.

If farming them for experience, it is strongly recommended to bring a Sleep Mask, and eat some food with sleep resist as it will shut down their signature move, rendering them relatively harmless.

You can lure the Dinogator into eating a Dream Eater in order to access the Moth's Garden.
