Floor Descriptions, Abyssal Shrine (Nexus)

Unlike the Abyssal Shrine in Etrian Odyssey III: The Drowned City, this labyrinth is much similar to the Shrines visited throughout Lemuria, only having shades of purple instead of the gray and green color scheme. This is the fourteenth and final labyrinth, unlocked after beating the game and reporting the final mission to Persephone.

As expected of the postgame dungeon, the encounter formations feature some of the deadliest enemies the game has to offer. Floor puzzles are also quite complex, despite several familiar mechanics like pillbug positioning making a return.

Throughout most of the dungeon, Enrica joins the party in exploration to discover the last of the Yggdrasil's secrets before she assumes proper duties as princess and leader of the Seafarers. She parts with the player right as they reach the center of B5F, outside the door leading up to the Abyssal Princess.

Trivia[]

This dungeon is named the same as an Etrian Odyssey III: Drowned City stratum. But has no connections to it. This is because they do not share the same names in Japanese. The Nexus dungeon's Japanese name is 奈落ノ霊堂 (Naraku no Reido), literally translated as "The Spiritual Chambers of Naraku", referring to the underworld or Hell. "Abyssal" in this case most likely refers to depictions of the underworld being "deep below" the physical or spiritual realm(s).

  • 霊堂 is also the word for a charnel house, a structure built to store human skeletal remains.
