Floor descriptions, Abyssal Shrine

The Abyssal Shrine is the fourth stratum in Etrian Odyssey III: The Drowned City. This temple was once part of Armoroad, but sunk to the ocean during the Calamity. It is now a nest infested with the dreaded Deep Ones. Navigating these halls is made difficult thanks to shutter gates, which will close depending on the direction one travels through them.

Trivia[]

  • Since the Abyssal Shrine is the main headquarters of the Deep Ones, it is very likely that the fauna encountered in the Shrine are tamed by the Deep Ones to increase their military might (with the Freed Savages as an example); it is also likely that the Eerie Statues (which might even have been built by the Deep Ones) and Cursed Knights (which might possibly be obeying the Deep Ones out of fear, and are additionally used as cattle for their negative energy) are utilized for combat by the race.
  • Though it shares an English name with the stratum from Etrian Odyssey Nexus, its Japanese name is 深洋祭祀殿 (Shinyou Saishiden). The "Abyssal" in this stratum's name reflecting that it is reminiscent of the bottom of the ocean
